Magnefy Service Design
Service Design Challenge in 48 Hrs
The Global Service Jam is a 48-hour design challenge that takes place around the world over one weekend where each location designs new service solutions around the same theme.
I was glad to join this event in MAYA, a design agency in Pittsburgh.
I formed a team of three with Christine Fish and Lou-loun Chao to design and prototype around this year's theme -- paper fortune teller. Our team came up with a unique service called "Magnefy".
I actively generate ideas with my team mates. I specifically interviewed hospitality experts in Pittsburgh tourist center and concierge at Fairmont, built the interactive test as well as the final video.
What Is Magnefy?
Get a closer look at the cities you visit, meet peers, enjoy your downtime
Magnefy provides a safe way for busy, single female travelers to explore the city and meet people safely while on solo business travel. Magnefy offers a unique, personalized, curated experience allowing visitors worry-free exploration. We will pair you up with a local guide who speaks your language to accompany you on your adventure.
Whether your interests are enjoying local food specialties, taking in a performance at the ballet, or finding a special yoga class that fits your expertise level, Magnefy will help you build an itinerary that is the perfect fit for you.
How Did We Get There?
Since the theme is a metaphor (seen in upper left of the following picture), the team started with mind mapping around feelings, objects, and stories. The team interviewed hospitality specialist in downtown Pittsburgh. The team built a persona after interviewing each other. The team conceptualized the service idea with a customer journey map.

The team role played a desk walkthrough and refined the whole experience.
